Two police officers, including a station house officer (SHO), have been killed in an attack by militants in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Karak district.
The attack took place in the New Karpa area, where militants opened fire on a police patrol. SHO Dawood Khan and police constable Farhad were killed in the shooting.
Police have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation for the attackers.
On the other hand, KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi condemned the attack and also criticized the provincial government, accusing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led administration of leaving the province at the mercy of terrorists.
Kundi said the police, military and civilians were paying the price of compromises with their lives, and questioned how many more deaths would be needed for the provincial government to take responsibility for the security situation.
He also expressed his condolences to the families of the two officers martyred in the attack.
