LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Sunday removed Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jhelum Mir Raza from his post after intermediate examinations were postponed due to her visit to the area, ARY News reported.
The Chief Minister expressed intense anger over the violation of her explicit directives. Prior to her visit, she had instructed authorities to ensure that the public—especially school children—faced no inconvenience during her arrival.
CM Maryam stated that DC Mir Raza clearly violated her orders by attempting to postpone supplementary examinations using her visit to Jhelum as an excuse.
Earlier, the intermediate Computer Science exam was postponed across Jhelum and Pind Dadan Khan due to the Chief Minister’s scheduled visit.
Following the incident, the Punjab government issued an official notification regarding the DC’s removal.
