ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) said on Sunday that the Margalla Avenue extension from N-5 to M-1 and the Sangjani Interchange project have reached 35% completion, with work continuing nonstop.

Sohail Ashraf, the Islamabad chief commissioner and CDA chairman, visited the project to assess its progress and gave instructions to the necessary authorities to eliminate any obstacles so that it may be finished within the allotted time.

Officials report that the construction of the service road is proceeding concurrently with the widening and extension of the main road, which will span around 2.7 kilometers.

They informed the chairman that structural work on the underpass at Sangjani Interchange had been completed, while piling for abutments on both sides of the N-5 Interchange Bridge had also been finished.

Four of the project’s five culverts have been completed, while work on the remaining one is underway. Construction of loops and ramps is also continuing.

Sohail Ashraf expressed satisfaction over the pace of work and directed officials to ensure that construction met the required standards of speed, quality, and transparency.

He said the project would improve access to Islamabad for commuters travelling from within and outside the capital, particularly those arriving from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In addition to improving connectivity to Islamabad International Airport, he claimed, the road link would make travel from Abbottabad, Mansehra, and other nearby locations easier.

During the inspection, the chairman was accompanied by senior CDA officials.
