KARACHI, August 25, 2026: An Additional District and Sessions Court South has ordered registration of a case against three excise officials for allegedly keeping three people, including two women, in illegal detention, ARY News reported.
The development came after a magistrate raided an Excise Police Station and recovered the three individuals. The magistrate later released them on personal bonds.
The court said the three people had been detained illegally without any official entry. The detainees also alleged that they were asked to pay a bribe in exchange for their release.
The court ordered registration of a case against the excise officials for resisting and interfering with the magistrate’s proceedings. It observed that the officials used inappropriate language and their conduct amounted to interference in judicial proceedings.
According to the court, excise officials and private individuals also attempted to move the illegally detained people. The officials’ resistance forced the magistrate to call the police.
The court directed the concerned SHO to register cases over the illegal detention, obstruction of judicial proceedings and misconduct.
The court also ordered compensation of Rs90,000 for the three affected individuals, with In-charge Mumtaz Mirani, Inspector Ghulam Mustafa and Arshad Rahim directed to pay Rs30,000 each.
The court further directed SSP South to stop the salaries of the concerned excise officials.
