Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has arrived in Türkiye on an official visit, where he is expected to hold discussions on defence cooperation and regional security.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Asim Munir’s visit is considered significant for strengthening defence and military cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye.
During the visit, discussions are expected to cover matters of mutual interest, defence cooperation, military ties and the regional security situation, among other key issues.
Pakistan and Türkiye have long maintained close and brotherly relations, with defence cooperation and military-to-military ties forming an important part of their bilateral relationship.
The two countries have continued to strengthen defence cooperation through joint military exercises, training programmes and engagements between their armed forces at various levels.
Field Marshal Asim Munir’s visit is expected to further deepen defence and military ties between Pakistan and Türkiye and open new avenues for bilateral cooperation.
Meanwhile, the first meeting of the committee established under the joint defence agreement between Türkiye, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia is scheduled to take place in Istanbul on Tuesday, with senior officials from all three countries expected to attend.
According to a foreign news agency, sources in the Turkish Foreign Ministry said senior officials from Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan will convene in Istanbul on Monday for the inaugural committee meeting under the joint defence agreement signed earlier this month.
