The federal government in Pakistan says a Rs.415 billion upgrade of the N-25 Karachi-Quetta-Chaman Highway will significantly reduce travel times between Karachi and Quetta.
Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan discussed the project with Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail during a meeting in Islamabad on Thursday, 3 September 2026.
The road project, officially designated the Pakistan Expressway, is being developed as a major transport and trade corridor linking Karachi with Balochistan and the Chaman border.
Abdul Aleem Khan said the National Highway Authority (NHA) was taking steps to ensure the timely completion of the project and other priority road schemes in the province.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including the federal secretary for communications and the NHA chairman.
The discussions centered on critical NHA projects aimed at upgrading road connectivity, enhancing trade routes, and driving socio-economic progress in Balochistan.
He stated that the modern, state-of-the-art expressway will substantially reduce the travel time between Karachi and Quetta, establishing a crucial commercial artery for Balochistan and the broader region.
Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail expressed deep gratitude to Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan for prioritizing the N-25 Pakistan Expressway, commending the NHA’s valuable contribution to the development of Balochistan’s transit network.
He lauded the Ministry’s focused approach toward upgrading the province’s primary transport corridors, noting that these developments would significantly benefit local communities.
The meeting concluded with comprehensive deliberations on additional regional projects, including the construction of the Zhob Bypass and further enhancements to the province’s overall communications sector.
