LAHORE, September 6, 2026: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazal ur Rehman has called for a national-level political dialogue on all issues, including matters concerning the provinces, ARY News reported.

Speaking during a meeting with journalists in Lahore, Fazal ur Rehman said an in-camera session of Parliament should be convened to discuss the issues.

He said all differences should be resolved through arguments and dialogue, adding that the system had completely failed.

Fazal ur Rehman said the Taliban had established their own government in some areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and were collecting more taxes than the government in those areas.

He said, “We don’t pay extortion, which is why extortion is also demanded from us.” He added that his sons and nephews had also been attacked.

The JUI-F chief said neither local nor foreign investors were investing in the country, while trade with Central Asia had completely stopped.

He said the federal government was unable to accept the NFC Award and the provinces’ authority over mineral resources.

Fazal ur Rehman said US officials had also shown interest in minerals, adding that the shares of the federal government, provinces and people in mineral resources should be clearly determined.

On the issue of provincial rights, Fazal ur Rehman said his thinking and that of Nawaz Sharif would be the same.

“The difference is that I am speaking while Nawaz Sharif is silent,” he said.

Fazal ur Rehman said the system had collapsed and there was practically no government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He reiterated that trade with Central Asian countries had come to a halt and said attempts were being made to make the NFC Award and provincial authority over mineral resources unacceptable.
