CM Suspends 37 Civil Defence Officers

LAHORE: On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the provincial administration has taken strict action against corrupt government officials, suspending as many as 37 Civil Defence officers and personnel, ARY News reported.

Additionally, 12 personnel were dismissed from service, while another seven were transferred. Furthermore, nine chief instructors and 15 instructors from the Civil Defence Department were among those suspended. Setting an example of self-accountability, the Director of Civil Defence initiated proactive action within the department.

Civil Defence personnel were removed from their posts across several districts, including Sargodha, Khushab, Multan, Lodhran, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Narowal, and Bahawalpur. The provincial administration has dispatched letters to all district deputy commissioners to ensure the implementation of the Chief Minister’s anti-corruption orders.

Among those suspended was Rahim Yar Khan Civil Defence Officer Shakeeb Ahmed, along with assistants from Vehari, Sialkot, Khushab, and Sahiwal. Senior clerks Muhammad Altaf (Narowal) and Muhammad Qasim (Gujranwala) were also suspended.

Civil Defence instructors from Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sialkot, Sahiwal, Rahim Yar Khan, and Rawalpindi were suspended, alongside staff from Multan, Rawalpindi, Jhang, and Gujrat, as the Director of Civil Defence cracked down on corruption within the department.

All suspended officers and personnel have been directed to report to the Punjab Headquarters. Meanwhile, seven Civil Defence officers were transferred due to extended tenure and administrative reasons:

Muzaffargarh Civil Defence Officer Sehrish Irshad has been posted to Vehari.

Rehan (Vehari) has been transferred to Bahawalnagar.

Abbas (Faisalabad) has been posted to Sahiwal.

Adnan (Sahiwal) has been posted to Okara.

Iqbal (Okara) has been transferred to Faisalabad.

Sidra (Lahore) has been appointed as Chief Staff Officer.

Farhana Aziz (Sialkot) has been posted to the Civil Secretariat in Lahore.

The Chief Secretary has directed the heads of all provincial departments to conduct thorough departmental accountability.
