Ameer-e -Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said the party will continue its protests and warned it may march towards Islamabad’s D-Chowk if the government fails to accept demands.
Addressing protesters at a sit-in in Karachi, Hafiz Naeem said a government committee would meet for talks on Thursday.
He said the committee would be asked about the responses received from government departments to the party’s proposals.
“Even if the government accepts our proposal, the sit-ins will continue until it is implemented,” he said.
JI Ameer warned that if the government rejected the proposals, he would announce a long march towards Islamabad on 10 September 2026.
He also called on supporters to prepare for further demonstrations. He said a major women’s protest would be held outside the Governor House on Wednesday at 3:30 pm, while women’s public gatherings were planned in Gujranwala on 11 September and Islamabad on 12 September.
The Jamaat-e-Islami leader said the party would present a ‘charter of demands’ and take the grievances of around 50 million people to Islamabad in trucks.
He also warned that if the government did not end what he described as slavery to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), his party would launch a movement under the slogan ‘Bring down the government and bring revolution’.
Hafiz Naeem said the Jamaat-e-Islami would continue its campaign for relief for low-income households and would seek to bring the price of petrol down to Rs. 225 per litre.
He also said the government should immediately end what he called ‘extortion taxes’, adding that the enthusiasm of young people could not be suppressed.
