ISLAMABAD: The National Commission on the Rights of Child (NCRC) has completed an in-camera briefing into the alleged harassment of a girl at Westminster School in Islamabad, ARY News reported.
The parents of the affected girl met NCRC Chairperson Ayesha Raza Farooq and briefed her about the incident.
The NCRC heard both sides separately due to the high-profile nature of the case.
School CEO Raheel Sajjad said incidents involving children would not be tolerated and called for a transparent investigation into the matter.
Ayesha Raza Farooq said the commission had received a complaint regarding the school and had heard the positions of both parties.
She said the NCRC would complete its inquiry and submit a report.
The NCRC chairperson said punishment was not the commission’s responsibility and that recommendations would be sent to the relevant institutions.
She said the commission was reviewing the child protection system and relevant laws and was also in contact with schools in Islamabad.
Ayesha Raza Farooq said the school administration had brought CCTV footage before the commission.
She said the relevant institution would take a decision according to the law.
The NCRC chairperson said the recent increase in such incidents involving children was concerning.
She said the girl’s parents had been heard in detail and all their concerns should be addressed immediately.
She added that the school administration had also submitted documents and further investigation would be conducted.
