PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan will face punishment for what he did, adding that his release is not possible through protests.
Speaking to the media, Faisal Karim Kundi said if Islamabad had not sentenced Imran Khan, then why was a march being held towards the capital.
He said Imran Khan’s release was only possible through the courts and not through protests.
The KP governor said Pakistan, particularly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, urgently needed peace, adding that funerals of martyrs were being held late at night.
“We are carrying the coffins of martyrs while the provincial government is marching on Islamabad,” he said.
Kundi said holding protests was everyone’s constitutional right, but warned that having an intention to confront authorities beforehand could be dangerous.
He said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were facing insecurity and urged the provincial government to protect its citizens instead of marching on Islamabad.
The KP governor said he had never seen any PTI leader attending a military funeral.
He also alleged that PTI had opened a “shop of corruption” in the name of Imran Khan.
Kundi said he did not want Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to be shut down as the province was already facing terrorism.
