The Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to improving industrial infrastructure, supporting exports and creating a business-friendly environment in Karachi.
Speaking as chief guest at the Annual Dinner 2026 of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), Murad Ali Shah said the provincial government had approved Rs.9.282 billion for the rehabilitation and improvement of infrastructure in Karachi’s industrial areas.
He said work on development schemes funded through KATI allocations was already under way in the Korangi Industrial Area, including improvements to roads and drainage.
“Industrial growth requires more than land. It requires roads, water, drainage systems, electricity, gas, transport facilities, law and order, policy continuity and government support,” Murad Shah said.
Highlighting Karachi’s central role in the national economy, Murad Shah said the city remained Pakistan’s economic engine, home to industries, ports, trade, exports and investment opportunities.
He said a factory provided income not only to its workers but also to suppliers, transporters, banks and small businesses connected to industrial activity.
“If Karachi is strong, Sindh will be strong. And if Sindh is strong, Pakistan will be strong,” he said.
The chief minister also urged businesses to invest in technology, innovation and digital transformation.
He highlighted artificial intelligence, automation, robotics, e-commerce, digital markets, freelancing and software development as areas that would shape the future economy.
He called for stronger links between industry and educational institutions, as well as more internship and apprenticeship programs to give young people skills relevant to the labor market.
“Our youth should not only be job seekers; they must become job creators,” he said.
Murad Ali Shah also called on industrialists to increase the production of value-added goods rather than relying on exports of raw materials.
He said Pakistani businesses needed to improve branding, enter new markets and meet international standards to increase exports and competitiveness.
Concluding his address, Murad Shah reiterated the Sindh government’s commitment to industrial growth, job creation, export promotion and investment facilitation.
“Karachi has given Pakistan industry, trade, employment, exports and a strong economic identity. The Sindh government stands ready to play its full role in supporting industrial development and economic prosperity,” he said.
