Pakistan Customs seizes narcotics worth Rs.5.41bn

The Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Islamabad, says it has seized 1,200kg of charas during an operation near the M-2 motorway in Islamabad.

The seizure was made at about 02:30 hours on 2 October 2026 by the Anti-Smuggling Squad of the Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Islamabad, during an intelligence-based operation, officials said.

Customs said the operation was carried out following an intelligence tip about the transportation of a large quantity of narcotics.

During the operation, the Customs officials recovered 1,200 kg of charas, approximately 100 kg of poppy seeds, one firearm, and a non-customs-paid Toyota Prado (Model 2005) allegedly being used for transportation of the contraband.

The seized narcotics have been valued at about Rs. 5.40 billion, according to Customs. Including the vehicle and other items, the total value of the seizure has been assessed at approximately Rs.5.41billion.

The accused persons, upon sensing the presence of the Customs team, managed to flee the scene under the cover of darkness. The seized vehicle and other items were accordingly taken into Customs custody.

An FIR has been registered against unknown accused persons under the relevant provisions of the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, and the Customs Act, 1969.

The Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Islamabad, has initiated further investigation to trace and apprehend the persons involved and to ascertain the complete network behind the transportation of the narcotics consignment.
