Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has signed an agreement with Norse Atlantic Airways to operate two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, as the Pakistani flag carrier prepares to expand its operations.

The aircraft are expected to join PIA in November 2026 and operate direct long-haul flights to the United Kingdom from Pakistan.

The agreement will provide PIA with additional capacity to meet growing demand for travel between the two countries and improve connectivity between destinations in Pakistan and the UK.

Under the partnership, Norse Atlantic will provide the cutting-edge aircraft, expert crew, maintenance, and insurance and augment PIA’s ambitious route expansion, while enabling Norse to rapidly redeploy its returning fleet.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, PIA chief executive (CEO), AVM Amir Hayat, said the UK remained an important market for the airline and that the agreement would help increase capacity and provide passengers with more travel options.

“We are pleased to partner with Norse Atlantic as we continue to strengthen our international network and respond to strong demand for direct travel between the two countries,” he said.

Hayat added that the introduction of the Dreamliners marked a new development for Pakistan’s aviation market, with the airline aiming to offer passengers an improved long-haul travel experience.

On this occasion, Norse Atlantic CEO Eivind Roald described the agreement as the beginning of a strategic partnership between the two airlines.

He said the agreement was part of the company’s strategy to redeploy aircraft through ACMI partnerships.

He said they were pleased to support PIA’s long-haul capacity expansion and to strengthen connectivity between the UK and Pakistan by providing the large Pakistani community in the UK with more options for travel between the two countries.
