A new report says Rockstar plans to release Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) on PC in early 2027. This would mean PC players wait much less time after the console launch than they did for GTA 5.

GTA 6 might come to PC sooner than many expected. According to GamesBeat, Rockstar Games plans to release the PC version in the first three months of 2027, based on information from four industry sources familiar with the studio’s plans.

If this report is correct, PC players would only have to wait a few months after the November 19 console launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox. This would be a big change from GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2. GTA 5 came out on consoles in September 2013 but didn’t arrive on PC until April 2015, about a year and seven months later.

GamesBeat says all four sources wanted to stay anonymous to avoid hurting business relationships, and Rockstar did not respond to requests for comment. Rockstar has not announced a PC version yet, so the Q1 2027 date is still just a rumor, not a confirmed release. Plans can also change, especially for a game of this size.

Since GTA 6 was announced, many have wondered about a PC release. This is especially important because GTA 6 appears to run at 30fps on all consoles, and Rockstar has said they have nothing to share about a performance mode.

For players who want smoother gameplay, the PC version seems like the best option, and a Q1 2027 release would mean a shorter wait than many expected.

Grand Theft Auto 6 launches November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
