KARACHI: A judicial commission formed to probe the murder of young entrepreneur Mir Raza has prepared its report after more than a month of hearings, ARY News reported.
According to commission sources, the report will be presented to the Sindh government on Thursday, October 15.
The sources added that the thorough investigation report will be submitted to the Sindh government on Thursday at 10:00 AM.
The judicial commission has also summoned the secretary of home affairs on Thursday.
The registrar of the judicial commission will hand over the report to the home secretary.
Meanwhile, the head of the judicial commission, Justice Umar Sial, will start hearing cases in Hyderabad.
He will continue hearings at the Hyderabad circuit bench until November 7.
Earlier, the details of answers given by DIG Amir Farooqi, head of the investigation team in the Mir Raza case, before the judicial commission have emerged.
The Mir Raza Judicial Commission asked Amir Farooqi 19 questions regarding the investigation. In his responses, Farooqi said no shortcomings had been found in the previous investigation that could have affected the probe.
The commission asked whether he knew that Shabbir Laghari had personally recorded only 10 out of 33 statements. Farooqi replied that the statements recorded by Laghari were part of the investigation file.
He said all evidence had been taken into custody in accordance with the law. However, he acknowledged that there had been irregularities at the initial stage regarding the preservation of the body and securing the crime scene.
Farooqi said he was satisfied with the measures taken to secure the crime scene. He added that it would have been better if the holster, lighter, cigarette packet and bullet casing had been recovered on the first day.
According to Farooqi, the crime scene was uneven and contained bushes, grass and garbage. The spot where the fire was set was 15 feet away from the location where the body was found.
He said the holster, bullet casing, personal belongings, the body’s position on sloping ground and grass found in the hand were all relevant to the crime scene. He added that the quantity of blood found on the surface depended on the position of the body.
The commission also asked whether investigators had examined the possibility of extortion, forced collection of money, blackmail or threats. Farooqi said the investigation was being conducted while keeping possible scenarios in view.
He said information about Mir Raza’s cryptocurrency trading and accounts had been obtained from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). Details related to cryptocurrency and financial matters were still awaited from the NCCIA and the State Bank of Pakistan.
Farooqi said all records received would become part of the investigation file. The investigation would be conducted on the basis of those details, and the findings would be presented before the court.
The commission also raised questions about the conduct and contacts of an individual, saying the matter required detailed questioning.
Farooqi denied speaking about showing leniency towards the additional police surgeon. He said investigators had tried to keep digital evidence completely confidential, but several details had appeared in the media even before the investigation began.
He added that the conduct of police personnel and other relevant individuals was being examined. Strict action would be taken if anyone was found to have violated the law.
