ISLAMABAD: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on Monday issued a stern warning against creating fake social media profiles of women, leaking their personal data and images, and blackmailing them online.

In a statement shared on social media, the NCCIA said that blackmailing women and leaking anyone’s personal data were cybercrimes punishable under the law.

“Blackmailing women, leaking private pictures or creating fake profiles are crimes,” the agency said, urging citizens to speak out against such illegal activities and submit complaints to the NCCIA along with relevant evidence.

The agency urged citizens not to remain silent and to expose those involved in online harassment.

“A safer digital Pakistan is a shared responsibility,” the NCCIA said, encouraging the public to report online harassment, fake profiles, misuse of private images and blackmailing by contacting its helpline at 1799.

The agency also urged victims and affected individuals to come forward and report cybercrime incidents to help ensure a safer digital environment.

Earlier, Mirpur police arrested a suspect on Tuesday for uploading a video of a girl to TikTok through a fake account without her consent in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to a police spokesperson, the incident came to light on September 25, 2026, when the victim’s family approached SSP Mirpur Khurram Iqbal and lodged a complaint.

The family stated that their daughter was travelling to an academy with her brother when an unidentified person recorded her video and uploaded it to a TikTok account without her consent, raising concerns over her privacy and reputation.

Taking notice of the complaint, SSP Khurram Iqbal directed the Cyber Crime Unit Mirpur to investigate the matter using modern technical resources and take legal action in accordance with the law.
