WNBA star Sophie Cunningham has once again demonstrated she’s also ruthless when it comes to the press.
Sophie Cunningham gets the job done on the court, but she’s also gained a pretty massive following off of it. The Indiana Fever guard is known for not holding back and telling you how it is and she recently sat down for an interview when she was peppered with some pretty funny questions about her dating life–and she shot ’em all down quickly.
The Awkward Dating Question
Due to all the speculation on social media and viral sightings, Cunningham was heavily questioned about her relationship status. When individuals had asked her the last time she had been on a “real” date, the 6’1″ basketball phenom did not hold back.
Snubbing the inquisitive line of questioning, Cunningham shot back gruffly, ‘Why? I’m not answering this.’

Instead of falling into the trap of awkwardness, she doubled down on her trademark openness, detailing the way most folks have handled approaching-or, rather, not approaching-her in real life.
“No one ever approaches me, you know I don’t really date,” Cunningham said, joking that maybe she just exudes an intimidating presence.
Sticking to Boundaries and Staying on Track
Cunningham’s unrelenting honesty has made her a fan favorite for years now. If it’s not her revealing the only dating preferences she has (you got to be taller than me so I feel “smaller”) or waving off questions about her sex life, the WNBA champion stays tight lipped between her career on the court and life off of it.
Although internet detectives and fans can’t help but keep speculating about her relationship status and the speculations and rumors that aren’t yet confirmed, Cunningham has made it known she’ll spill the tea when she wants to, where she wants, and how she wants.
