Google is expanding ads in its AI search results to a much larger global audience. After testing sponsored content earlier this year, the company is now adding these ads to ten more countries: Australia, Canada, India, Kenya, Malaysia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Singapore.
As more regional updates are planned, people in Brazil, Mexico, and the United Kingdom will see these AI ads by late 2026. In the United States, Google is also introducing multi-turn ads, a new approach that keeps sponsored links visible in every follow-up question during a conversation.
These ads use the Gemini AI model. The system quickly reviews what users type, creates an answer, and adds relevant product suggestions into the response. All ads are clearly marked as sponsored so users know they are promotions.
For example, if someone asks about cheap wireless headphones, the AI will show both technical advice and direct shopping links. Shashi Thakur, an executive in charge of these ads, said the company will keep trying new formats to stay relevant and helpful.
Google’s current ad strategy seems to be working well. Internal research shows that users are comfortable with sponsored content in AI answers. Executives also said that both regular search results and ads get similar click-through rates.
This fast growth brings up questions about the future of the Gemini chatbot. Right now, Google keeps advanced features behind paid subscriptions. Since people are using these new formats a lot, the company will probably add similar ads to free Gemini accounts soon.
