KARACHI: To unleash Pakistan’s potential in the quickly growing global halal industry, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Khalid Hussain Magsi advocated for increased international cooperation, stronger regulatory frameworks, and technical innovation.
Speaking at the First Pakistan Halal Forum 2026 in Karachi, he stated that Pakistan’s robust agricultural foundation, livestock resources, and food processing sector will enable it to become a competitive player in the global halal market.
The Federal Minister emphasized the expanding importance of the global halal economy, which encompasses not only food goods but also pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, travel, transportation, and financial services. He urged that in order to seize new opportunities in global markets, Pakistan must expand on its current strengths and create a comprehensive, globally, competitive halal ecosystem.
Emphasizing the importance of consumer confidence, he said transparent certification systems, internationally recognized standards, and modern digital traceability mechanisms are essential for ensuring the credibility of halal products and expanding market access. He reaffirmed the Ministry of Science and Technology’s commitment to strengthening the technical and institutional capacity of the Pakistan Halal Authority and supporting its regulatory role in the country’s halal sector.
