RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has said that JUI-F chief Maulana Fazal ur Rehman has his own party and political approach, adding that he had advised him to be careful with certain words used during his speech in the assembly, ARY News reported.
Speaking to the media in Rawalpindi, Barrister Gohar said tensions should not escalate and the response from government representatives was also inappropriate.
He said political tensions must be reduced in the interest of the country, nation and democracy.
The PTI chairman said the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa might not have reached the point of emergency and governor’s rule if political meetings had continued.
He said he and Allama Nasir Abbas had tried to arrange a meeting between political leaders, but when that could not happen, a meeting between lawyers and PTI founder Imran Khan was arranged instead.
Barrister Gohar denied that his name had been finalised for a meeting with the PTI founder, saying the meeting with lawyers was also a necessity for them.
He said a petition seeking the recovery of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister and speaker was under hearing, adding that their disappearance was beyond his understanding.
The PTI chairman said political victimisation was at its peak and posed a serious threat to democracy.
He reiterated that his party stood with the state and Pakistan, adding that the imprisonment of non-political women and sisters was deeply regrettable.
Barrister Gohar said efforts were underway to convene an all-parties conference involving all political parties.
Regarding the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister’s position, he said only PTI founder Imran Khan would decide who would hold the office.
He also said PTI had never supported an anti-state narrative on social media.
“Government, army and state belong to us. Pakistan comes first, politics later,” he said.
On Imran Khan’s health, Barrister Gohar said the demand for his treatment and access to personal doctors remained unchanged.
He clarified that no discussion had taken place regarding the PTI founder’s possible transfer to Bani Gala or a jail in Islamabad.
