Prince Harry uniquely sidestepped any chance of studying. When the Duke of Sussex left Eton College, the younger royal headed for the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst instead of pursuing a degree at university. In 2023, however, the Duke of Sussex wrote in his memoir Spare how he had been tempted to attend university for a brief period and that he was actually going to take exactly the same subject as The Princess of Wales.

After graduating from Eton, the only brochures I had picked up had been about higher education. ‘I’d pored over its literature, even considered a course in art history. (Lots of pretty girls took that subject.)’ However, as Harry noted of his brief consideration, ‘I just couldn’t picture myself spending years bent over a book.’
Ultimately it was both his housemaster and his father The King who pointed out to him that ‘traditional education was probably not for me’’.
