LAHORE: The Punjab government on Tuesday decided to restore sports activities in educational institutions across the province, announcing mega sports events to be held in all schools from October to December, ARY News reported.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat presided over a meeting today.
The Minister stated that the mega events will be held at the tehsil, district, division, and provincial levels.
Rana Sikandar Hayat announced that the Lahore Board will host the final event in December of this year.
He also announced an increase in reward money for the games, fixing it at Rs. 100,000, Rs. 300,000, and Rs. 500,000.
The Minister added that winning players will be provided with opportunities to compete at both national and international levels.
“No compromise will be made on the standard of the sports kits,” he stated.
He further informed that sports committees have been established in all 35,000 schools across the province.
Additionally, the Minister noted that as many as 450 schools have already been provided with sports equipment.
