ISLAMABAD: Electricity consumers are likely to face an additional financial burden as power tariffs might be increased by Rs2.52 per unit for one month under the July monthly fuel adjustment.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) is scheduled to hear today the Central Power Purchasing Agency’s (CPPA) request seeking approval for the monthly adjustment for July.
According to the application, electricity generated from diesel cost up to Rs50 per unit during July, while power generation through imported coal cost as much as Rs54.47 per unit.
The application further states that the generation cost of electricity from imported LNG stood at Rs47.37 per unit during the month.
NEPRA will announce its decision on the proposed tariff adjustment after hearing the application and reviewing the data submitted by the power sector.

Earlier on August 7, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) approved a nationwide increase of Rs.0.75 per unit in electricity tariffs under the monthly fuel cost adjustment mechanism.
According to a notification issued by NEPRA, the increase relates to the June 2026 monthly adjustment and will also apply to consumers of K-Electric.
It was further mentioned in the notification that the revised tariff will be reflected in electricity bills issued during August.
The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had sought an increase of Rs.1.20 per unit for the June adjustment.
