KARACHI: Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi Azad Khan has ordered an inquiry into a dispute and violence at an apartment in DHA’s Khayaban-e-Bukhari area.
AIG Azad Khan directed the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South to conduct an impartial investigation into the incident and submit a report within three days.
Authorities have also been asked to identify the police officers seen in video footage of the incident and submit a report on their presence at the scene.
The AIG directed investigators to ensure that all cases registered in connection with the incident are investigated strictly on merit and that all aspects of the matter are examined to determine those responsible.
Azad Khan emphasised that the inquiry must be conducted in a transparent, impartial and merit-based manner.
The development comes after a family was subjected to violence during a dispute over parking in Karachi. The family’s lawyer claimed that a medical examination of Noor-ul-Ain following the alleged assault found eight visible marks of violence on her body.

The lawyer said Ali Ahsan was allegedly dragged and assaulted during the parking dispute. A case was initially registered against the family under robbery-related provisions, but the charges were later amended to include provisions relating to the altercation.
Meanwhile, police authorities have written to relevant departments seeking assistance in identifying the officers visible in the CCTV footage. Police said they are verifying whether the officers were deployed at the location and will record statements from those seen in the footage. Officials are also investigating who sent the officers to the scene.
According to police officials, the officers seen in the CCTV footage do not belong to the South Zone police. However, they may be associated with Korangi District police. Officials also said the double-cabin vehicle visible in the footage does not belong to the South Zone police.
Separately, Humaira, one of the women allegedly subjected to violence, has secured interim bail from the Sessions Court South.
A case had been registered against the affected family at Darakhshan Police Station following a complaint by Maryam Ali Raza. Police have obtained details of the case registered at the station, while officials said the challan will be submitted to the court once the investigation is completed.
