KARACHI, September 3, 2026: The inquiry into the dispute involving women in Karachi’s Defence area has been completed, with the DIG South forwarding the report to the Additional Inspector General (AIG), ARY News reported.
According to the inquiry report, police constable Timor said he had sent the officers to the flat. However, SSP Fida Hussain Janwari had not ordered the deployment of the officers, the report stated.
The report said the officers involved were posted in Korangi district. Constable Timor also broke the door after being asked to do so by the woman seen in the camera footage.
According to the report, the women seen in the video are relatives of SSP Fida Hussain. The inquiry found that a false FIR had been registered.
The report said the affected family could register a case if it wanted to. It added that the section related to robbery had already been removed from the FIR during the investigation.
The inquiry found that the dispute was between women and incorrect sections had been included in the FIR.
DIG South also held the SHO Darakhshan and the investigation officer responsible in the matter.
The report concluded that police constable Timor had exceeded his authority.
Earlier, Police personnel recorded their statements before an inquiry committee formed by the Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi to investigate the clash between women in Defence.
The inquiry committee recorded statements of all police personnel seen in the CCTV footage of the incident. The officers seen in the footage were identified and called for questioning.
Former Darakhshan Station House Officer (SHO) Rashid Ali and the investigation officer of the case also recorded their statements before the committee.
The complainant and family members nominated in the case did not appear before the inquiry committee. They had assured the committee that they would appear at 6:30pm.
Lawyers representing both sides reached the office of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South, according to sources.
The inquiry committee also questioned police personnel at the DIG South office about their presence and actions during the incident.
The committee asked officers posted in Korangi district why they were present at the scene when the incident occurred. Police personnel were also questioned about when the fight started and when they reached the spot.
The committee asked why a plainclothes police official broke the CCTV camera and which officer had sent the other personnel seen in the footage to the scene.
Former SHO Darakhshan Rashid Ali was questioned about the registration of the case, including whether the incident had been investigated before the FIR was registered.
The investigation officer was asked how long after the fight the relevant police team reached the scene and what had emerged in the investigation from the registration of the case until now.
The committee also questioned whether the allegations had been established during the investigation and under which officer the personnel seen in the video were posted.
