LAHORE: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said Iran is under economic sanctions but has still progressed, asking why Pakistan cannot move forward in the same way, ARY News reported.
Addressing a ceremony, Mohsin Naqvi said there is a need to reset the system and the country’s system is going to be reset, which will bring improvement in various matters.
He congratulated the newly elected representatives of the Lahore Chamber and said Pakistan needs to increase its exports. He said he is available 24 hours to resolve the problems of the business community.
Mohsin Naqvi said he had visited Iran several times during the past two to three months. He said everything from construction to the automobile industry is being produced in Iran.
He said Pakistan can also resolve its problems by moving towards “Made in Pakistan”. Along with increasing exports, “Made in Pakistan” should also be given priority, he added.
The interior minister said Iran progressed despite economic sanctions because it prioritised “Made in Iran”. Giving priority to “Made in Pakistan” would reduce imports and increase exports, he said.
He said his doors are open 24 hours for the business community and the country is currently being run through taxes paid by the business community.
Mohsin Naqvi said Pakistan should learn from other countries. He said work on business passports has been underway for the past few months as businessmen face difficulties in obtaining visas.
He said embassies and consulates had been directed to facilitate businessmen. The solution is to increase exports by one way or another, he added.
The interior minister said the business community would have to support the reset of the system. He said problems faced by industrialists and traders would be resolved on a priority basis and their issues could only be addressed through resetting the system.
