Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has called on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to end its long march and ink a written agreement with the federal government.
Speaking at an event in Karachi, Bilawal said the federal government had considered imposing an emergency and governor’s rule in KP.
PPP Chairman said the PPP believed a political solution should be sought first.
He also criticized the PTI’s continuing political campaign.
“The PTI has not been in Islamabad for 10 days, but Islamabad is still shut down,” he said. “In one sense, your protest has succeeded.”
Bilawal also alleged the KP government of ignoring the province’s critical situation, and said that they are focusing on politics and the province is suffering from terrorism.
He urged the PTI to end its long march and called for a written agreement between the federal and KP governments.
Bilawal Bhutto suggested political disputes should be kept separate from efforts to tackle terrorism.
He said the federal government had been in contact with President Asif Ali Zardari and the PPP for the past one to two weeks amid a rise in militant attacks.
He alleged that India was behind terrorism and attacks originating from the Afghan side, without providing evidence for the claim.
He warned against a situation in which emergency measures might have to be used to deal with terrorism, saying that ending militancy should be the country’s foremost priority.
He said that terrorism in KP and Balochistan was a national issue that required cooperation between the government and opposition.
