ISLAMABAD: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has confirmed the presence of Pakistani troops in Saudi Arabia under the Makkah Agreement.
In an interview with CNN, DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have had defence ties for several decades.
He said Pakistani troops have been stationed in Saudi Arabia for decades.
According to the DG ISPR, Pakistani troops present in Saudi Arabia under the Makkah Agreement belong to different domains.
Earlier, Makkah Alliance decides to deploy joint military forces in Saudi Arabia.
The Strategic Political and Defence Committee of the Makkah Alliance held its meeting in Riyadh under the Makkah Agreement, with the participants discussing the security situation and threats facing Saudi Arabia, the Foreign Office spokesperson said.
Retired Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood was appointed as the first Secretary General of the Makkah Alliance for Defence for a three-year term.
The parties welcomed the appointment of Lieutenant General (retd) Nauman Mahmood and expressed their best wishes for his success. They also expressed confidence in his role in promoting the alliance and achieving its objectives.
The committee strongly condemned attempts to target Makkah and Madinah and denounced continued attacks on Saudi cities, civilians and economic installations.
The participants rejected any attack or threat against the security and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia.
Pakistan and Turkiye praised the readiness, professionalism and high capabilities of the Saudi Armed Forces. They also appreciated the Saudi military’s ability to counter threats and attacks and protect the security and territorial integrity of the country.
The committee reviewed the results of political and military consultations held before the meeting and approved the recommendations presented during the session.
