Amazon Echo Show 16 smart display debuts with premium aluminum design and upgraded audio

Amazon Echo Show 16

Amazon is introducing the Echo Show 16, a higher-end model that joins the Echo Show 15. It features a 10 percent larger 1080p display, an optional nano-texture surface, and a chassis that is 40 percent thinner and made of aluminum. You can hang the device on a wall or place it on a stand, which is sold separately.

It comes with a new sound system that includes eight woofers and two tweeters. This setup is designed to improve audio for video chats and when using it as a Fire TV. The device also automatically adjusts the sound to fit the room.

The Echo Show 16 has a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera for video chats. It also lets Alexa+ recognize people from up to 17 feet away. With its night vision mode, the camera can also be used as a security camera.

Amazon has added a room temperature sensor and a processor that is 20 percent faster than the one in the Echo Show 15.

Besides working as a compact smart TV and for video chats, the Echo Show 16 is mainly designed to help you control smart home devices, talk to Amazon’s Alexa+ AI chatbot, and show small apps like a calendar or photo gallery. For privacy, there is a button that turns off all cameras and microphones.

Amazon expects to ship the Echo Show 16 before the end of the year. It will be available with a glossy display for $499.99 or a matte display for $569.99. The stand with tilt costs an extra $124.99. If you pre-order, you will get a $100 discount.
