KARACHI: A judicial magistrate court in Karachi has fixed November 20 for the indictment of Pakistan Awaam Raaj Tehreek head Iqrar-ul-Hassan in a case involving allegations of disseminating anti-state content on social media.

According to details, Judicial Magistrate East heard the case against Iqrar-ul-Hassan, who appeared before the court along with his lawyers.

During the hearing, the court provided copies of the case documents to the accused and directed him to ensure his presence at the next hearing.

The court subsequently scheduled November 20 for framing charges against Iqrar-ul-Hassan.

The judicial magistrate had earlier declared the interim challan submitted by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) as final.

The NCCIA registered the case against the television anchor over allegations of promoting anti-state content on social media. Iqrar-ul-Hassan is currently out on bail in the case.

Earlier this month, judicial magistrate granted post-arrest bail to Iqra-rul-Hassan, following allegations that he disseminated anti-state content via his social media channels.

Judicial Magistrate (East) Gulraiz Memon approved the bail against a solvent surety and personal bond of Rs 200,000 each.

According to NCCIA Hassan uploaded content ‘criticising constitutional and administrative measures’ with the intention of inciting public disaffection against state institutions.

However, the court observed that the case primarily relied on electronic and documentary evidence already secured by the agency, with no apparent risk of evidence tampering.
