LAHORE: The Pakistani women’s team has left for Dubai to compete in the Women’s Asia Cup, which will take place there from August 28 to September 13.
ARY News reportedly said that the Pakistani women’s squad, captained by Fatima Sana, played matches against the boys’ team at a training camp before they left.
The opening match for the Pakistani team is as per reports set for September 1 against Thailand, while the match between Pakistan and India is set for September 5.
However,on September 7, the Pakistani team will face Hong Kong in their final group encounter.
Earlier this week, Pakistan took a huge hit before the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup as their wicketkeeper-batter Najiha Alvi is ruled out of the upcoming tournament because of an injury, with Sadaf Shamas replacing her as right-handed batter.
According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Najiha complained of posterior left knee pain on Monday, and the scans found possible sprain in it.
After a complete assessment by the PCB’s medical staff, Najiha will soon start the rehab process, which may take up to four weeks.
