ISLAMABAD: One year has passed since the closure of Utility Stores across the country, yet roughly 11,500 employees are still awaiting justice, ARY News reported.
According to Arif Hussain Shah, President of the All Pakistan Workers Alliance (APWA), employees of the Utility Stores Corporation were laid off on August 31, 2025.
He said that despite a year having passed, the financial severance package owed to the employees has not been disbursed. Consequently, he demanded compensation for the delay in releasing the funds.
Shah also questioned why corruption allegations against the department had not been proven even after a full year, adding that serious doubts remain regarding the bidding process for assets worth billions of rupees.
He demanded an immediate forensic audit of the asset bidding process as well as the formation of an independent commission to investigate the corruption claims.
