KARACHI, August 28, 2026: An inquiry committee formed under the supervision of DIG South has started investigating the dispute involving women at a flat in Khayaban-e-Bukhari, Defence, ARY News reported.
Police officials said the committee has summoned both parties tomorrow to record their statements. The police personnel seen in the CCTV footage will also be called after their identities are confirmed.
According to officials, most of the policemen visible in the CCTV footage are posted in Korangi district.
The committee has obtained CCTV footage of the incident from the affected family. Police officials have also sought details and videos of disputes that took place in the past.
Officials said the inquiry report will be prepared after statements of both parties are recorded. The Karachi police chief has directed the committee to submit its report within three days.
Meanwhile, Advocate Sajjad Gul Khattari, who represents the affected family, said the family has not yet decided whether to appear before the inquiry committee.
He said the affected family has been very frightened since the incident.
Earlier, Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi Azad Khan ordered an inquiry into a dispute and violence at an apartment in DHA’s Khayaban-e-Bukhari area.
AIG Azad Khan directed the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South to conduct an impartial investigation into the incident and submit a report within three days.
Authorities have also been asked to identify the police officers seen in video footage of the incident and submit a report on their presence at the scene.
The AIG directed investigators to ensure that all cases registered in connection with the incident are investigated strictly on merit and that all aspects of the matter are examined to determine those responsible.
Azad Khan emphasised that the inquiry must be conducted in a transparent, impartial and merit-based manner.
