KARACHI: Muslim League Functional has distanced itself from the incident involving Professor Dr Arif Khan Saqi, ARY News reported.
A spokesperson said the unfortunate incident should not be linked with the GDA or Pakistan Muslim League Functional (PML-F).
The spokesperson said Ali Gohar Shah had joined the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on October 19, 2023, after meeting Bilawal Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari.
The spokesperson added that reports about Ali Gohar Shah joining the PPP were also published in newspapers.
According to the spokesperson, ties with Ali Gohar Shah were no longer maintained due to his failure to uphold the tradition.
Meanwhile, the main accused in the case registered over the assault on Professor Arif Khan near a private hotel close to Safoora Chowrangi has not yet been arrested.
According to police officials, teams have been formed to arrest the accused, Kunain Ali, and are conducting raids in different areas of Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Sachal.
Police said Kunain Ali’s security guards and employees of the private hotel have so far been arrested in connection with the case.
Police officials also said they had not been informed whether Kunain Ali had obtained bail in the case.
Investigating police said Kunain Ali is the son of Ghar Ali, a leader of a political party.
Police said efforts to arrest the main accused are continuing, but no significant progress has been made so far.
