KARACHI: The defence counsel of an attempted murder suspect repeatedly slapped an Investigation Officer (IO) inside the Sindh High Court (SHC) premises after his client’s bail application was rejected, allowing the accused to flee, ARY News reported.
The accused, named Badshah, appeared before the SHC in connection with an attempted murder case registered against him at the Memon Goth police station. When the court dismissed his bail petition, he attempted to flee the premises.
As he was running away, the case’s IO, Shoaib Baloch, took him into custody within the court premises.
However, the suspect’s family members intervened to free him from police custody. Shortly after, his defense counsel arrived and began repeatedly slapping the IO.
The defense lawyer not only slapped the IO but also assaulted a plainclothes police officer.
Amid the chaos caused by the lawyer and the suspect’s family, the accused succeeded in escaping from court premises.
