KARACHI: The Karachi administration closed the road leading toward Hassan Square from the NIPA bridge without any prior notice or warning signs at the turn of the NIPA bridge, ARY News reported.
The NIPA overhead bridge ends near the Federal Urdu University, where barricades were placed without any advance notice of closure at the start of the bridge or at the barricade itself.
Furthermore, the administration failed to inform citizens about alternative routes. Motorists only realized the road ahead was closed once they reached the Federal Urdu University.
Adding to the chaos, the traffic police did not deploy any personnel to manage or divert the traffic.
Due to the administration’s negligence, citizens were forced to figure out alternative routes on their own to reach Hassan Square.
It is also pertinent to mention that the road heading from NIPA to Sector 13-D has already been closed for many months.
Notably, TransKarachi—the company responsible for constructing the BRT Red Line—had issued a circular stating that the road would reopen on September 15.
