A police officer in Karachi has been suspended after stopping a rickshaw carrying women and asking one of the passengers to be friends.
The incident came to light after a video showing the officer approaching the rickshaw and making the offer was widely shared online.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East, Zubair Nazeer Sheikh, took notice of the incident after it was reported by ARY News and ordered the immediate suspension of the officer, identified as Imran.
Police officials said Imran was posted at Aziz Bhatti police station in Karachi.
The SSP East has said departmental action would be taken against the officer for allegedly harassing women and damaging the reputation of the police.
The video, which shows the officer stopping the rickshaw on a road and speaking to a woman inside, prompted criticism from the public and calls for action against the officer.
