RAWALPINDI: The Government College for Boys in Chhab, located in the Attock district, wears a deserted look as academic activities have remained stalled for a decade due to a complete absence of teaching staff, ARY News reported.
The decade-long inactivity has deprived youth across eight union councils of access to higher education.
It was revealed that out of 15 sanctioned positions at the institution, only the principal’s post has been filled. Although the college boasts a fully constructed building, science laboratories, and a library, not a single teacher has been posted there.
The Deputy Director of Colleges in Attock has submitted a report to the Director of Colleges in Rawalpindi highlighting the total unavailability of faculty, citing an earlier report compiled by the college principal.
Frustrated by the prolonged neglect, local residents have lodged complaints on the Chief Minister’s portal.
They stated that admissions could never be opened due to the lack of faculty, forcing underprivileged students to abandon their higher education goals after passing matriculation.
Residents added that despite explicit assurances from the Secretary of Education regarding the immediate deployment of staff, no teachers have been hired to date.
