KARACHI: The Sir Syed Flyover to Hassan Square route will remain closed due to development work, according to a traffic advisory issued by Karachi Traffic police.
The route will be closed from tonight and will remain completely shut until the development work is completed.
Traffic heading from NIPA to Hassan Square will be diverted towards Rashid Minhas Road.
Traffic coming from Millennium towards Stadium Road will be able to continue to its destination through the designated route.
Traffic from Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 1 will be able to proceed towards Azizabad and Essa Nagri.
Karachi Traffic Police personnel will remain deployed at key locations and diversion points to facilitate motorists, officials said.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered against former project director Yellow Line BRT Zameer Abbassi under the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act, after which the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) presented the accused before the Court of the Sessions Judge South.
The court remanded the accused to FIA custody until September 22. Requesting physical remand, the agency informed the court that custody was necessary to conduct further investigations and extract details regarding potential accomplices.
The FIA stated that the accused is a Grade 19 officer who has been posted across various government departments.
According to investigators, Abbassi opened benami accounts in the names of his father, wife, and frontmen, while laundering money through illegal hawala and hundi channels.
The agency added that he undertook 24 foreign trips to manage his overseas funds.
Between 2012 and 2026, as many as 1,100 transactions totaling over Rs 5.55 billion were made into accounts linked to the accused.
The FIA further revealed that Abbassi’s father and wife transferred money directly into his accounts and that the suspect paid a staggering Rs 35.5 million across seven life insurance policies over the past eight years.
