The chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has accused the federal government of failing to provide Sindh and Karachi with their due share of water, gas, and other resources.
In an event in Karachi, while speaking about the city’s water shortage, Bhutto said the Water Accord specifically provided for additional water to be supplied to the city, but that Karachi was not receiving water according to the agreement.
“It is clear that the federal government has always treated Karachi unfairly,” he said.
Bilawal Bhutto also said residents of Karachi had complaints about electricity and gas supplies. He pointed out that gas was produced in Sindh and said the Constitution guaranteed the province the first right to its natural resources.
“Sindh is first deprived of its constitutional right and then made fun of,” he said.
Addressing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Bhutto referred to the government’s slogan of “ Shehbaz speed” and said he had heard a lot about it. “If there is anywhere it is needed, it is the K-IV project, and we are still waiting,” he said.
PPP chairman also criticized the federal government over the proposed Hyderabad-Sukkur motorway, saying it had disappointed Sindh on the project as well.
“The federal government continues to disappoint,” he said.
