Kuwait has revoked the citizenship of 415 people under six decrees published in the official gazette, Kuwait Alyoum.
According to the decrees, citizenship was withdrawn from six people under Decree No. 155 of 2026, while Decree No. 156 covered 286 individuals. Decree No. 157 revoked the citizenship of 14 women.
Under Decree No. 158, citizenship was withdrawn from 25 people, while Decree No. 159 covered 41 individuals. Decree No. 160 revoked the citizenship of another 43 people.
The decrees also state that the withdrawal of citizenship applies to individuals who acquired Kuwaiti nationality through dependency on those affected.
The measures were issued at Al-Seif Palace on September 8, 2026, and are to be implemented by Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.
The decrees bear the name of Kuwait’s Emir, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Separately, the Supreme Committee for Kuwaiti Citizenship Investigation issued Decision No. 14/76 of 2026, declaring the citizenship of 24 additional individuals lost under Article 11 of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law.
The committee’s decision was issued on August 6 and took effect upon its publication in the Official Gazette. The 24 individuals named in the decision include members of several families, including the Al-Otaibi, Al-Rashidi, Al-Omairi, Al-Hajri and Al-Ajmi families.
The latest measures were approved by Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah in his capacity as chairman of the Supreme Committee for Kuwaiti Citizenship Investigation. Government authorities have been directed to implement the relevant decrees and committee decision.
