The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has clarified that banks have no role in the approval or updating of the Proof of Life Certificate (POLC) related to pension payments.

During a NADRA podcast, a question was raised about what pensioners should do if their Proof of Life Certificate is not accepted or updated by a bank or pension controller.

Responding to the question, a NADRA spokesperson explained that the process takes place directly between the pension recipient and the relevant institution responsible for disbursing the pension.

According to the spokesperson, some individuals have raised concerns about why their POLC is not being accepted or updated by their bank or pension authority.

In this regard, NADRA clarified that banks have been excluded from the entire process under the Proof of Life Certificate system.

The clarification further explained that the actual transaction in pension-related matters takes place between the pension recipient and the pension-disbursing institution, while the bank remains entirely separate from this process. Therefore, pensioners do not need to submit their applications through their banks.

According to NADRA, pensioners can submit their applications directly to the relevant authority or department responsible for issuing their pensions through NADRA’s mobile application.

NADRA has urged pensioners not to hold banks responsible for matters concerning Proof of Life Certificates, as the application process and transmission of the certificate to the relevant institution are handled directly through NADRA’s mobile application.
