OGDCL begins oil and gas production at Khairpur exploratory well

Pakistan state owned oil and gas companies profit

ISLAMABAD: Oil & Gas Development Company Ltd (OGDCL) has initiated gas and condensate production from Sindh’s Bitrism East-1 exploration well in Khairpur district.

The company said the well is currently producing seven million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas and 200 barrels per day of condensate from the Basal Sands of Lower Goru Formation.

OGDCL has informed the development in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Thursday.

“Production is expected to be progressively ramped up as the well flow stabilises,” a spokesperson of OGDCL said.

Hydrocarbon reserves were discovered on October 1st from Bitrism East-1 exploration well, company said. “An approximately 28-kilometre, 8-inch flowline laid to connect the well to the Sinjhoro plant for processing. “The processed gas is now being supplied to the SSGCL networks,” spokesman said.

OGDCL is the operator of the Bitrism Exploration Licence with a 77.5% working interest.

“The commencement of production from Bitrism East-1 reflects OGDCL’s continued focus on bringing discoveries into production, enhancing the domestic hydrocarbon supplies,” said the company.
