Most fans were surprised that GTA 6 review codes were sent out around three weeks before the game’s release. With more time, there’s a higher risk of story spoilers and leaks that could disrupt marketing. Still, a content creator says Rockstar has put measures in place to stop leaks and catch anyone responsible.
Jeremy, also known as ManaByte, shared details about the embargo rules on social media. He claims that a watermark flashes the reviewer’s name on the screen, making it harder to leak GTA 6 footage without being caught. Journalists who try to share content from the Xbox or PS5 versions could be “eternally blacklisted from all future Rockstar releases.”
Other publishers use similar protections for pre-release versions. There’s even software like Denuvo TraceMark to help companies add these safeguards. Sometimes, the marks are hidden during gameplay. Since Rockstar is known for strict security, they may have created their own watermarking system.
Flashing text is tough for tools to erase, especially if it keeps moving around the screen. Still, with today’s AI, it probably isn’t impossible to remove. The bigger concern is if Rockstar added more hidden markers, like codes hidden in the image pixels.
It’s still unclear if these steps will stop GTA 6 leaks. Fans are worried about spoilers, especially since Shirrako hinted at early access. This YouTuber is known for revealing big plot points right before or after major games come out.
With the November 19th release date coming up, there are still questions about performance. Co-studio head Rob Nelson said the Xbox and PS5 versions will target 30 fps at launch, but he also mentioned that last-minute visual improvements are possible.
Gamers also want to know what benefits the PS5 Pro will bring. Sony usually shares these updates on the PlayStation Blog, and they might be part of a marketing deal with Rockstar. Both companies probably want to avoid any leaks from GTA 6 reviews revealing this info.
