LAHORE: Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has extended the ban on new gas connections for an indefinite period, ARY News reported.
Sources stated that SNGPL has also halted commercial gas supply to commercial tandoors and hotels.
Thousands of consumers remain deprived of new gas connections despite having paid urgent processing fees, the sources added.
According to sources, the supply of Re-Gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) has been disrupted due to the ongoing US-Iran conflict, exacerbating the gas shortfall across the current distribution network.
Gas demand has surged substantially with the arrival of the winter season, making consistent supply even to domestic consumers a severe challenge.
The gas crisis is expected to deepen further in the coming days, as the shortfall in RLNG has simultaneously intensified the LPG supply crisis.
SNGPL sources confirmed that the Ministry of Petroleum imposed the ban on new connections, adding that restoration is only expected once tensions in the US-Iran conflict subside.
Currently, gas is being distributed strictly according to a designated schedule.
