An IndiGo passenger plane flying from Patna to Lucknow was struck by lightning at an altitude of about 17,000ft on 7 October 2026, damaging its nose, according to Indian media reports.
Flight 6E925 was carrying 104 passengers and six crew members when it encountered bad weather, the reports said.
The aircraft landed at Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport at about 04:13 PM, according to Flightradar24 data, ahead of its scheduled arrival. No injuries were reported.
The flight had departed Patna at 03:10 PM.
The aircraft remains grounded in Lucknow while engineers assess the damage. It will require regulatory clearance before it can return to service, with India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) notified of the incident.
IndiGo arranged a replacement aircraft for the passengers, which left for Ahmedabad at 6.22 PM, according to the reports.
