ISLAMABAD: Another alleged fraud case has surfaced against Noman, the arrested suspect in the case involving International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) gold medallist Laiba Ijaz’s death, as investigators have uncovered details of a separate fraud case registered against him in Mansehra, investigation sources said.
According to sources, Noman is already wanted in a fraud case registered at a police station in Mansehra, where he and his alleged accomplices are accused of defrauding a family of Rs8.5 million on the pretext of securing government jobs for six children.
The suspects allegedly handed over fake appointment letters for government positions to the family. When the family verified the documents, all the letters turned out to be forged, sources said.
The affected family subsequently registered a fraud case against Noman and his alleged accomplices. Following the registration of the case, Noman reportedly went into hiding, and a court declared him a proclaimed offender.
The family has now approached Islamabad police with the alleged forged documents, sources added.
Fraud in Laiba Ijaz Visa Case
Meanwhile, investigation sources said Noman had reportedly confessed to defrauding Laiba in connection with her US student visa.
According to investigators, Noman came into contact with Laiba in February this year through his friend, Aiza Fatima. Laiba and Aiza had reportedly launched an online tuck shop together, but the business failed.
Sources said Laiba later approached Aiza for assistance in obtaining a US visa. Investigators allege that Noman exploited the situation by contacting Laiba through a second phone number while impersonating Aiza.
The suspect allegedly created a fake Gmail account in the name of Aiza’s brother, Azhar, who lives in the United States, and communicated with Laiba through the two fraudulent accounts.
Major breakthrough in Laiba Ijaz visa fraud case
Investigators further allege that Noman used artificial intelligence (AI) to prepare fake documents for Laiba’s student visa application.
Police have obtained part of the suspect’s chat history, while his mobile phone has been sent for forensic examination to gather further evidence, sources said.
