KARACHI: ARY News has obtained important documents regarding the ownership of Jamaat-e-Islami’s Noor-e-Haq building in Karachi, showing that plots 503 and 504 in Shikarpur Society were purchased through sale deeds.
According to the documents, plot 503, measuring 1,111 square yards, was purchased in 1988 through a sale deed in the name of Idara Noor-e-Haq Trust.
City Council opposition leader Saifuddin Advocate said plot 503 in Quaideen Colony was owned by Sir Ibrahim Haroon Jaffer, a leader of the independence movement.
According to the documents, plot 504 in Quaideen Colony measures 1,160 square yards.
Saifuddin Advocate said the ground floor of plot 504 was purchased through a sale deed in October 2001, while its first floor was purchased through a sale deed in January 2002.
He said the ground and first floors of plot 504 in Shikarpur Society were purchased from separate owners.
Saifuddin Advocate said Jamaat-e-Islami purchased the plots by collecting funds from its workers.
He challenged Karachi Mayor to present proof of ownership of plot 511, also located in Shikarpur Society, which he said belongs to the PPP Secretariat.
Saifuddin Advocate said Jamaat-e-Islami reserves the right to pursue legal action.
A dispute over the ownership of land housing Idara Noor-e-Haq was raised in the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) City Council, with Mayor Murtaza Wahab claiming that plots 503 and 504 are owned by the KMC.
Murtaza Wahab said the KMC-owned land located in Jamshed Quarters is currently in the possession of Idara Noor-e-Haq. He said the land was provided for welfare purposes but political activities are now being carried out there.
PPP leader Najmi Alam said Idara Noor-e-Haq had been allotted to Alkhidmat for welfare activities. He alleged that political activities are now taking place at the premises.
Opposition Leader of the KMC City Council Saifuddin Advocate rejected the allegations and said the property consisted of two bungalows that had been purchased by them. He said records regarding the property are available with them.
Saifuddin Advocate said if he was found to be wrong, he would resign, while Najmi Alam should resign if his claim was proven incorrect. He also demanded the resignation of those making allegations regarding the property.
ARY News has obtained documents related to the land of Idara Noor-e-Haq.
According to a 2006 document, Alkhidmat Society had transferred the property to Idara Noor-e-Haq. The transfer deed was prepared and registered in Karachi on October 14, 2006.
The document identifies Alkhidmat Society as the transferor and Idara Noor-e-Haq as the transferee. It states that the property was transferred without any financial consideration.
According to the document, the property covers an area of 1,160 square yards. The old survey number 524 and custodian number are also mentioned in the document.
The document states that the rights and interests in the property were transferred to Idara Noor-e-Haq. It also carries the signatures and stamps of representatives of Alkhidmat Society and Idara Noor-e-Haq.
Mayor Murtaza Wahab said the lease mutation and lease of the land were carried out by the KMC because the land belongs to the KMC.
He reiterated that land provided for welfare purposes is now being used for political activities.
