Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) is almost here, with just about two months left until launch. Many gamers are already planning for release day. The Wall Street Journal reports that lots of Americans are booking November 19 off work to play GTA 6. After a recent PlayStation 5 Pro restock sold out quickly, it looks like many players have already picked their console.
PlayStation 5 has been the clear choice for GTA 6 since the game was announced. This is partly because Rockstar and Sony have worked together for years, and also because of their big marketing push for the game. The new GTA 6-themed DualSense controllers, revealed at this month’s State of Play, make it even more obvious: PlayStation 5 is the top console for GTA 6.
PlayStation’s blog announced two limited-edition GTA 6 DualSense controllers coming out with the game on November 19. The Black Limited Edition is inspired by Vice City’s nightlife, while the White Limited Edition reflects the city’s beaches, pastel skies, and daytime look. Both controllers have a shimmering, color-changing finish, palm-tree details, and official GTA 6 branding.
The controllers will cost $84.99, and you can pre-order them now. The white version will be available from PlayStation Direct and other retailers. The black version will be sold only through PlayStation Direct in supported regions, but some retailers will offer it elsewhere.
The announcement also shows that Sony and Rockstar want the PS5 to be the main console for GTA 6. In the game, the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback will react to what’s happening on screen, and the adaptive triggers will change resistance to make Jason and Lucia’s adventures feel more real. The controller’s built-in speaker will play sounds during certain moments, along with extra haptic effects.
Sony is also highlighting more PS5 features. In another recent blog, Sony talked about its close partnership with Rockstar Games. The developers are using PlayStation’s hardware to improve the game. Tempest 3D AudioTech will give players more accurate sound in Vice City and Leonida, and the PS5’s fast SSD should mean almost no loading times in the huge open world.
Sony keeps calling the PS5 the “best place to play,” showing that it’s getting the most attention before GTA 6’s big release.
